Gemballa!

Every now and again Monte Carlo Daily Photo presents a photograph of a rather special car or a leggy blonde - this, you understand, to satisfy a certain male readership of this blog. We aim to keep all our readers happy, so today, meet a few of the Gemballa cars, displayed outside the Grimaldi Forum on Avenue Princesse Grace.

For we mere mortals, I understand that a Gemballa is a sort of super Porsche that looks amazing and goes very very very fast. Price seems to be well in excess of $300,000. I read in one article that a Gemballa is the wet dream of every Porsche enthusiast! So you get the picture...

These photos show a Gemballa Avalanche GTR 600 and a Gemballa Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R. The last car is a Gemballa GT Aero 3 Sport Exclusive, which, being bigger, is I suppose what you buy when you've met the leggy blonde, married her and have 2.5 gorgeous children.

If I've made any mistakes over the names of these cars, please will someone tell me and I'll change the copy. The leggy blonde is your problem.

LOL. I wonder who you are on about! It's a great matt black colour in the first shot, but I'm not sure if I like the look of it. I do prefer the more classic car. Obviously I wouldn't say no if you bought it for me Jilly and I'm more than happy to pay for shipping it over here. Think I'd be the only guy in Nottingham with one then.

Gail's Man, yes I wonder who I was talking about too! Click on the link to see more of these cars. I found several comments on Google from people who find these cars very ugly. Other love 'em! Googling will bring more choice of what they offer I think. Wish I could buy it for you but I think I'm a little short this month...

Your post today is very funny. A friend of mine, when he traded in his first Porshe for a better model, was told by the car dealer "Congratulations for finally buying a Porshe."

But a $300,000+ Porshe family car? Forget about it. If a guy has a wife and 2.5 kids, don't even bother trying to drive around in a Porsche family car. You'll look silly, even with a leggy blonde in the passenger seat. Wait until the kids are grown, then buy your mid-life-crisis-mobile.

This reminds me of a TV commercial they used to run in the U.S. It showed a garage door opening very slowly. The voice said "First it was all the stuff the kids needed. Then it was orthodontics for the kids. Then college. Private college. Then their weddings. Now, it's your turn." At that point the grarage door was open high enough to reveal that inside was a Mercedes.

David, you and I are mere mortals. I have a setter here at the moment and when I walked up the track to collect her from the car the other day, she jumped out of an enormous Porsche - think it's a Cayenne. This young couple have a child and a dog. I said I didn't know Porsche made a family car and she said they love it. Monaco people are different! And it's the young who have these cars here. There are now a lot of young people living their dreams. Made their money in IT, etc.

My teenage son's favorite show is Top Gear (he thinks Jeremy Clarkson is hilarious despite his tactless comments)and he will be most happy to see that you again have photographs of cars on your blog!

I would take the middle car anytime, no matter if there was a leggy blonde or not.

Gail's Man, I espescially like the looks of that middle car. It looks so nasty that it makes me weak. Just imagine you could drive that car along Basse Corniche, wow!

I tried it. I found it a little under-powered and bad mannered in certain situations.

......I am refering of course to the leggy blonde.

First I hear of that name! Not talking about the leggy blonde of course!

These are the Porsche models for people with no taste ... Without stereotyping, here in London all the Gemballas are driven by Arabs & Russians [who don't always grasp the concept of less is more!] Have a regular 911 or Cayenne instead of these pimped out P-Diddy mobiles!
