Nice, not Monaco!

Don't panic! This isn't Monte Carlo!  It's Nice yesterday where police were out in force to prevent a 'Free Palaestine' protest from entering Avenue Jean-Médecin.

Interesting scene. Life still looks normal behind the police.

Apparently they must have anticipated violence; too bad because I support non-violent protests.

My son lives in Argentina. They have lots of protests there, but about domestic economic issues rather than world affairs.

Maybe today they will take to the streets in celebration of a World Cup victory. I heard that the Argentine goalie plays for Monaco during the regular season..

That's not the usual Nice scene I am accustomed to but excellent street photography.

Hi Jilly, ah, now we know!!
We were in Nice as well yesterday and were wondering why there was so much police! We saw the fist ones close to the Jazz Festival (but so much police for protecting Jazz fans??) and then later in a side street.
I would have liked to take pictures of them wearing "star wars" boots, too, but thought maybe they would become angry...

The face of the cop second from right tells the whole story. I gather that taking pictures like this doesn't bother the French police.
