Concert at the Palace - the Cour d'Honneur

The audience is slowly taking their seats.  We've entered the massive gates of the Palace and are in the Cour d'Honneur (The Courtyard of Honour) - note the stunning Gallery of Hercules.  We'll learn about the history as this little series continues.

Meanwhile, dusk is falling, we are getting settled and soon the musicians of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra will take their places.

Nice how the brightly lit bandstand stands out from the surroundings.

Beautiful photos, Jilly. You've captured both the grandeur of the palace courtyard as well as the intimacy it provides.

However, on the night that you attended, how was the crowd -- were all the seats taken or were there few attendees? Thanks dear and more power.

R, it looked absolutely choc a bloc to me. This photo was taken as people were taking their seats but once they had I didn't see an empty one. Of course there could have been over the other side.

Hate to ask the nosy details, but how much are the tickets for these concerts, and do the royals attend?

I'm not sure for this. I think between 40 and 70 euros but really don't know for sure as I was invited by a friend. And yes the princely family attends some of the concerts and if not, they could hear it from their apartments anyway.
