Congratulations!

Congratulations! Well, yes...I was saving this photograph for the day that England won the Rugby World Cup! Sadly, they didn't and of course neither did France so I couldn't use it to congratulate either country. So here it is. I can't find any information about the artist. Engraved into the plinth are the words Vax Cartie - and I don't know what that means? Does anyone know? There are several statues, made of rocks and barbed wire - around. For instance, there is one as you drive into Terminal One at Nice airport. This one is located at the far end of Port Hercule pretty much opposite the Monaco Yacht Club.

Great photo. Interesting artwork for both the look as well as the materials used (blocks of concrete & rebar).

That's neat. It's interesting how a bunch of rocks and wire can be made into such a realistic form. We have a sculpture here in San Diego made of rocks that looks like a bear.

For a moment, I thought we shipped you King Kong. That is very mysterious, indeed.

You know, I've been thinking about this and decided that as it is located at Port Hercule, it is Hercules.

As to Vax cartie - no idea - err, unless it's the artists's name! Nothing yielded through google though.

Sally, you could well be right. I didn't think of that - well done. The sculpture is stuck at the far end of the port tho, near to the yacht club and if it was Hercules you'd think it'd be big time noticeable. I Googled too with no success. One day I'll ask someone - perhaps in the Yacht Club.
