I snapped this man up a ladder outside the Metropole Centre (see below) and thought he'd not noticed me, but when I walked past him later, he called out - 'Hey, take a photo of me smiling then!' - so I did. Has this sort of thing ever happened to you?

Jilly, the people I've snapped adore having their photos taken! I've been refused a "sitting" only once or twice...usually older people in another country than my own. I think that people portraits are very interesting and fun to take.
He looks like a man who enjoys his work, and a little bit like George Clooney.
What fun! Yes, I had someone 'catch me' just the other day. As Kate said, most people seem very open to it. And I'm amazed at how many people I am meeting in the course of snapping for the DDP. Nice pictures, these two, of ordinary people doing their thing.

Believe me, if I'd thought he looked like George Clooney, I'd still be there helping him mix his...paint!
Once, I had a couple of workmen insist I take their photo in Zürich. I obliged, of course!
