Jardin Exotique - the Football Stadium

Taken from the Jardin Exotique, this is Monaco's football stadium - home of AS Monaco. Notice all those roof gardens. We'll zoom in on some another day.

The tall buildings to the left of the photograph are on the eastern border of Monaco, in Fontvieille. The other side of those apartments, you see the harbour of Cap d'Ail, which of course is in France.

I would enjoy viewing a football match in this stadium.

It appears the largest structure in the "country" is a stadium devoted to sport.

Awesome view! And I love all those roof gardens. The roof of the stadium is quite interesting too.

I understand the car park is under the grass field. And AS Monaco is a great football team. Wow!
Jilly, were you in a high rise building? Are we looking into the International University on avenue Albert II?

Maria, All this series of photos are taken from the Jardin Exotique - so yes high up in Monaco.

The Stadium stands on Avenue du Prince Hereditaire Albert and I believe the university is at number 2 but I'm sorry I don't know which building it is. Someone asked me once before to photograph the uni - perhaps it was you? So sorry. I'll try and find it once and for all next time I go to Fontvieille but yes, I imagine you are looking at it in this photo but I don't know which building.

B Squared - we are looking at a small part of Monaco here - Fontvieille - ie the part of Monaco reclaimed from the sea. Certainly the Stade takes up quite a bit of this photograph but even in Fontvieille it's only part of the picture - there is the circus and much else beside. And don't forget this photo doesn't include Monte Carlo, le Rocher, Larvotto etc. There you will find bigger buildings, or at least taller.

The stadium is very nice and I am blown away with the roof gardens. Are these apartment/condos with the gardens? We will have to visit those Jilly!

Yes, Jilly, it was me who had placed a request. :)
And this is indeed a photo of the university! IUM is located IN the stadium. Thank you!!

[Son is still very much interested in IUM... The $$$ is definitely an obstacle but some dreams do come true.]

Great overview shot of the stadium and beyond. The stadium looks quite new.

Maria, I'm glad we solved that mystery! The university address is shown as number 2 but I'd not a clue where number 2 was.

Clueless, all the buildings in Fontvieille are relatively new as Fontvieille is on land reclamed from the sea. The Stadium was built in 1985.
