Le Vieux Moulin de Monte Carlo - 1

Fragments of an olive oil mill from Roman times are displayed here in Fontvieille - the part of Monaco reclaimed from the sea. The original mill was in the area of Monaco known, unsurprisingly, as Moulins.

What you see here are the remains of vats and millstones.

More tomorrow.

Interesting. And I love how they used the parts as part of the gardens—beautiful!

I like the term..Trituration des Olives!!!
It's lunch time here and a good olive oil sprinkled on a tomato would be perfect!!

Olive oil is being produced in Mendocino county now. I feel lucky to have a bottle of real olive oil from one of those orchards, that gives the peppery feeling in the back of the mouth.

I see several wonderful native herbs there too - rosemary, oregano, lavender - such smells!

The mill stones are very nice to see. And not destroyed.

I also liked your post yesterday.

Patty and I will be celebrating 53 years of marriage on July 12th. Think of it as a long-term relationship.

I have invited bloggers to offer suggestions on a gift for me to give Patty and the list would not be complete without your ideas.
