A Monte Carlo Summer - the Dragon

This fearsome chap peers out from the vegetation by one of the pools in the Casino Gardens.

"It's hard to stop Muggles from noticing us if we're keeping dragons in the back garden - anyway, you can't tame dragons, it's dangerous."
- Ron Weasley

"We're our own dragons as well as our own heroes, and we have to rescue ourselves from ourselves."
- Tom Robbins

Jilly, you posted one of my favorite Tom Robbins quotes!

This is one fierce looking creature. Do they wander around the Casino Gardens, scaring away all but the most serious gamblers? :-)

Help us out here Jilly. This little guy is a piece of sculpture right? wrong? I can't tell, but he would scare me regardless. Your quotes are a really nice touch today.

Jilly, I think you meant "peeks" right? Although, "pees" works for me. At least he is not going in the pool to relieve himself. Seriously, he is a striking little fellow. He doesn't look real. I think I'd rather run into a garden gnome than this formidable "chap." :-)

Virginia - yes he's a sculpture indeed - and Coltrane, thanks for pointing out the typo - although I'm sure he pees too! Actually the word I intended was peers - which has now been corrected. Thanks so much. And Laurie, so glad you liked the quotes. Me too.

An iguana in the Casino gardens! I would have guessed that there were more reptiles INSIDE the Casino than in the gardens.

The reptiles in the gardens are metal sculpture, but inside the casino the reptiles probably have hearts of stone. :-)

Great photo. I did a double take when I saw it to make sure it wasn't real. By the way, tomorrow I will post another baby iguana photo on my site. They are cute when young. Maybe Monaco should add some statues of baby iguanas to the Casino Gardens.
