A Monte Carlo Summer - the Opera House

A view of the Casino (in fact the back of it - ie the Opera House) taken from the far side of Port Hercule, which is way way below. This shot shows Monaco's setting in the hillside.

Okay, I'm confused. Is it a casino or an opera house? Or is it used for both? It is truly a confection of a building!

Kate, it's both! We are looking at the back of the building which happens to be the section that is the Opera House. The front of the building leads into both - with the casino off to the left.

Such a beautiful and ornate architecture.

I recently watched "Rear Window" starring Grace Kelly. Then I started reading up about her on Wikipedia and it said Monaco was practically broke in the 1950s. Grace Kelly's parents paid a huge dowry for her to marry the Prince.

How interesting is that?
