Monaco Street - Death to the Snail!

Not for the squeamish...the snails are about to be poured onto the fire. But before that there is the ritual of praying for the snails as the musicians walk in a line and then each player drops a solitary snail into the pan as he says goodbye.

A reminder of the great website of Les Taraf Goulamas if you missed it yesterday.

More tomorrow...

You have so many great street shots/action shots.
Is it also happening outside the summer seasons.

I see one little snail with his head up saying -no don't cook me- I'm wondering how many snails does it take to make a single plate?

Tes photos sont fort intéressantes, Jilly, mais c'est quand même une pratique barbare. :-)

I wand to know if their culinary talents are on par with their musical abilities?

They taste better if you cook them alive!

Mosquitos are worse then we're. They usually consume us without cooking even... ;-)

PS
I like your blog very much. Rgds.

Looks like they are being given last rights as they drop into the pan. I hope you'll explain the significance of this ritual.

Chuck, I don't think there is any significance other than it's fun. You are quite right - the last rights is what the snails are being given!
