Christmas on the Port: Skating

The skating rink (which of course is the famous swimming pool iced over) set against the backdrop of luxury yachts.

It looks like a beautiful sunny day....
(I take it the snow has melted -- wonder what the port looked like with snow!)

Jilly, what are the spectator seats for?

Maria, yes, the snow has gone but it's pouring with rain today. Not naice.

The seats are here because this ice-rink is usually the swimming pool. They are always there I seem to think.

Ice skating is a wonderful winter sport. Is the weather cold enough to freeze the pool or is there some kind of magic involved? I'd love to see more photos of the people around the port.

Fabulous foto of the ice rink next to the luxury yachts! Nice that Monaco mayor wishes everyone welcome! I can't wait to get out on our nearby outdoor ice rink!
Joyeux NOel!

I doubt that it is too often that you hear dialogue such as the following on one of the yachts:

"Reginald, I am bored sitting here on our luxury yacht. Let's go ashore and do something on land>"

"Right you are, Muffy. We shall stroll along the promenade and go ice skating. I'll tell the crew to sharpen our skates right after they pump out the bilge."

It's amazing how much this photo looks like there really is winter! We had earlier this week - 27 C and we did go out only the necessary.

HI Jilly - Merry Xmas!

Something incongruous about ice-skating on the Riviera, although I don't kow why. It has as much right to winter as everywhere else! I suppose one thinks that when it gets cold the jet set head off to St Moritz or wherever.
