This sculpture in the Casino Gardens is by Anna Chromy and is called The Eagle of Peace.

So very nice! A great series! Very, very interesting! I find that in Europe there is a certain whimsy that is harder to find in the States...

I think so many here are working so hard to get ahead they don't have much time for "fun."

I like the simplicity of its white and gold. What are those words (names?) written on it?

Hilda, the short answer is I don't know. It's a 'bird of peace' and on the other side of the bird is written 'coat of peace' so I can only assume the names are of battles/war but, like you, I've don't the names.

Hilda, I think it's the word 'peace' in other languages - perhaps obscure languages.

Hilda and Jilly, I found two familiar words; "frieden" and "rauha" which both mean peace. The latter is in Finnish and i was quite surprised to find so familiar word in your blog ;- )
